Obituary

Judy B. Decker, 85, beloved wife, mother, dedicated daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother ("GGMom"), sister, aunt, and friend was called home to Heaven on Friday, February 27, 2026.

She was born to Max and Betty (Buckley) Bazil and was a lifelong resident of the Park City and Valley Center communities, where she met and married the love of her life. Judy and her husband, Jerry, shared more than 70 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories together.

Judy and Jerry especially loved camping and spent many spring and fall seasons along Roaring River in Cassville, Missouri. She also had a deep love for serving others and giving back to her community. She was active in the ministries of the Church of the Brethren in Wichita, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and served on the Park City Library Board, where she played a role in helping bring the city's long-envisioned library to life.

Professionally, Judy was a dedicated member of Dr. Lloyd Hummer's medical team and worked for 32 years as a medical assistant at Wichita Clinical before retiring.

As a mother and grandmother, Judy gave her love freely and generously. She was a constant source of encouragement and made every effort to be present for baseball, tennis, soccer, and basketball games, choir concerts, birthdays and other special moments. Her cards were always heartfelt and easily recognized by the signature red lipstick kiss she placed on the back of each one.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Mary "Betty" Bazil; and her siblings, Janet Flores, Jerry Bazil, and Jacque Monk.

Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry; her children, Mark (Darcy) Decker, Brian Decker, Lisa (John) Earl, and Debbi (Dave) Steinbach; as well as 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many other cherished family members and friends.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 1:00p.m. at First Church of the Brethren, 1103 Jefferson, Wichita, Kansas, 67203.   Memorials may be given in her memory to the First Church of the Brethren.
