Obituary

Joseph Anthony Slater, 80, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Earl and Helen Slater.  He worked as an Shipping / Receiving Expediter for CPS - Reliance Steel where he retired from.

Joe was thankful for AA and 54 years of sobriety from 1971 to 2025. He loved his family deeply, enjoying camping, fishing and spending time with them.

He was preceded by his parents, grandson Jacob Stidham, son-in-law Bobby Jones, adopted daughter Donita Newlin, sister Dorothy Slater, brothers Al, Gerry and Bobby Slater.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife Patricia Slater, daughter Tama Jones, grandchildren Joseph and Jeniffer "14", great grandchildren Ivan and Sofi; adopted daughters loved as a daughter - Angie "Squirrel" Myres, Barbara, Robin and Tisha, brother Richard Slater, many other family and friends.

Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.   Graveside service to follow at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
