Joseph Dee "J.Dee" Cox, 82, passed away March 7, 2025, in Wichita. He was born in Kinsley, Kansas on January 25, 1943, to Joseph Dee Cox Sr. and Bethine (Converse) Cox. He grew up in Cimmaron and the family moved to Hutchinson, where he graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961. He met his wife Judy Ellis in high school. They were married on Jan. 21, 1967. They moved to Wichita in 1967. Together, they had a daughter, Lisa, and a son, Joseph Dee "Tre" Cox III. He owned Cox Siding and Remodeling and was a foreman for the Machinist Union in Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his younger brother, Barry Cox.

Survivors include his ex-wife Judy Wellshear of Wichita; his children Lisa (Chris) Strunk of Valley Center and son Tre (David Avie Tim) Cox; and grandchildren Joseph "Ray" Strunk, Jeremiah Strunk and Samantha "Marci" Strunk.
