John Pittinger, 77, passed away on Thursday, December 18th 2025 in Sedgwick Kansas. He was born in Spring Valley, NY to Henry and Catherine (McMahon Kerrigan). John enlisted in the United States Air Force 3 days after he graduated high school in 1966. In the Air Force John became a Senior Master Sergeant and worked in vehicle maintenance around the world, including Japan, the Philippines, Iceland and England. He also worked in the United States, from Michigan, Maine, Louisiana and Colorado, before retiring from the Air Force in 1992. John moved to Sedgwick, KS in 1996 with his family.
John enjoyed helping other veterans in Sedgwick, where he served as commander of American Legion Post 268. He also enjoyed dalmatian dogs, working on cars, cooking Cajun food, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.
John is proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Catherine, brothers Danny and Tommy, and his wife Deborah.
He is survived by his ex-wife Sherry and son Shawn of Anderson, SC, stepson William (Sarah) of Sedgwick, KS, brothers Mark (Anne) of Pearl River, NY, Greg of Mount Dora, FL, and David of Warwick, NY, and sisters Virginia and Mary, both of Spring Valley, NY.
A service will be held for family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his memory to The Sedgwick Meeting House or the American Legion Post 268, Sedgwick, Kansas 67135
