Obituary

John Arthur Brownlee, 67 passed away November 1st in Wichita, KS. He was born in Darby, PA to Lawrence and Hilda Brownlee. John's passion growing up was baseball. A die-hard Yankee fan, a highlight of his childhood was seeing them play in Yankee Stadium. After graduating from South High School his dream came true to play professional baseball. He played in the minor leagues for the Oakland A's for 6 seasons until a shoulder injury ended his pitching career.

John married Terri, his wife of 47 years, in 1974. They raised 3 children in Wichita. John coached several little league football and baseball teams while his kids were growing up. He graduated from WSU with a degree in Computer Science, then later got his MBA in International Business from Newman University. John's 30 year career at Boeing consisted of various IT positions including System Design and Integration Specialist.

John was lovingly known as the BLG- big, loud guy- and for his great stories and sense of humor. He was a great cook and loved cooking for family and friends, especially having "meatfests" for pool days. He was well known for his spicy chicken wings. On most summer days you could find him parked in the pool with a book and a beer nearby. He most loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Survived by wife, Terri Brownlee; children Ben (Kristen) Brownlee, Brett (Crystal) Brownlee and Brooke (Kris) Houseberg; grandchildren Skyler, Silas, Xanthus, Camden, Penelope, Finley, Pyper, Van and Hayden; sisters Dana Walters and Debbie (Tim) Doyle; brother, Larry Brownlee; Sister-in-law Tammi Goodrum; father-in-Law Gail Goodrum and stepmother-in-law Anne Goodrum; nephew Shannon (Jana) Brownlee, and numerous other family members and friends.
