Sowers, Joan Laurae (Wier), 60, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Thomas A. E. Wier and Doris Mae (Weaver) Wier. She is survived by her husband Sid Sowers; children, Becca (Mike) Haas of Gardner, Clayton (Felisha) Sowers, Ross Sowers and Charlie Sowers; grandchildren, Anna Haas, Grace Haas, Nadia Sowers, Naomi Sowers and Noah Sowers; dad, Thomas Wier; sisters Suzanne (Bobby) Dale and Nancy (Lou) Tuilli; many other family and friends. Joan is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Wier, step-mom, Mary Wier and brother, Gary Wier. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center. Service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Central Community, 6100 W. Maple, Wichita. Interment following the service at Valley Center Memorial Cemetery, Valley Center, Kansas.
