Obituary

Wenke, Jimmie W., 87, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on Wednesday, June 23, 1937 to Alice Glenda (Loffland) Wenke and William Wenke. He resided in Wichita until he joined the Navy in 1955. He served with pride where ever the Navy sent him all over the world.  Upon Navy retirement in August 1976, he and his family returned to Wichita. He then worked in aircraft for Cessna and Boeing where he retired from both.

Jimmie enjoyed golf, bowling, woodworking, and most importantly was time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and sister Caroline James.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 66 years Sharon Wenke of Valley Center, daughters Melanie Wenke of Wichita, Julie Johnson of New Braunfels Texas, Kelle (Mel) Stanley of Raytown Missouri, Michelle (Steven) Smith of Valley Center; his 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters Susan (Larry) Kennett of Olathe and Nina (Tim) Baker of Wichita; many other family and friends.

Service will be held 10 am to 1 pm Saturday, February 22, 2025 at LeVenue, 109 W. Main St., Valley Center, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Shriners Children's Hospital, a Humane Society, or a charity of your choice. Be sure to raise a beer in his honor.
