Obituary

Jerry McNolty, age 85, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, in De Soto, Kansas. Born on Wednesday, April 17, 1940, in Newton, Kansas, Jerry was a man defined by his quiet integrity and a steady commitment to helping those around him.

The son of Charley and Hazel (Yocum) McNolty, Jerry made his home for many years in Newton before moving to Branson, Missouri. He eventually returned to Kansas with his wife, Alice (VanTuyl) McNolty, settling in the Olathe area. Throughout his life in each of these communities, Jerry was known for his giving nature, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to a neighbor or friend in need.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice, who passed away following their return to Kansas. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Hazel; his brothers, Charles and Michael McNolty; and his sister, Patricia Hiebert.

He is survived by his four children: Jerry Dean Jr., Michael, Terri, and Jennifer. He is also survived by his sisters—Charlotte Wiebe, Bonnie Siemens, and Peggy Williams—along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to honor Jerry's life and his impact on those around him will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, February 12th at Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick, Kansas.

In keeping with Jerry's spirit of giving, the family suggests memorial donations be made to your local food pantry. Most importantly, the family asks that you honor Jerry's memory by extending a helping hand to someone in your community today.
