Obituary

Jeannette Jon Love, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, in Park City, Kansas. She was at home with her son, Stephen, and her Siberian Husky dog, Luna.

Born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, Jeannette was the eldest sibling of Charles Maxwell Love and Dorothy Jeannette Love (McCammon). She grew up in Mulvane, Kansas, alongside her younger brothers, Charles and Steven.

A graduate of Mulvane High School, Jeannette began her career working in The Wichita Eagle (Beacon) Library Department. She continued working at The Wichita Eagle (Beacon) before retiring as the TV Week Editor after thirty-five years. Jeannette made many lifelong friends while she worked at the newspaper. She dearly loved journalism and she loved the challenge of meeting publishing deadlines. Jeannette's father also worked as a Sports Writer for The Wichita Eagle (Beacon), so Jeannette felt as though she was continuing his legacy.

Jeannette had a lifelong love for animals and was especially fond of dogs and horses. She was a very talented equestrian rider. She rode five-gaited horses in competition and she won several show ribbons on her beloved horse, Alice.

Jeannette was also involved in several activities during her life. She was an active member of the Wichita Gourd Club at The Wichita Mid-American All-Indian Museum in the 1970s and 1980s; a Sedgwick County EMS volunteer, and, most recently, a volunteer tour guide at the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center.

Jeannette is survived by her son, Stephen (Peri) Love; her brother, Charles (Vicki) Love; her granddaughter, Alexandria Love; her grandson, Charles Love; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Love; her brother, Steven Love; and niece, Chelsea Love.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Wichita Mid-American All-Indian Museum, 650 N. Seneca, Wichita, Kansas 67203.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kansas Humane Society. Alternatively, friends are encouraged to volunteer their time at the Kansas Humane Society, adopt a rescue animal, or contribute to an animal charity of their choice.
