Titus
October 23, 1941 – September 14, 2024
James Edward Titus, 82, of Wichita, Kansas entered his heavenly home on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born in Wellington, Kansas to James Robert Titus and Florence Ruth (Daily) Titus. He was raised in Cowley County, Sumner County and Sedgwick County. James was a graduate of West High School in Wichita, Kansas. He took drafting in high school and at WSU. He was an engineer at Boeing, and then with Kansas Gas & Electric (KG&E) where he retired after 45 years. He was involved in the design, development and building the "Keeper of the Plains" and the Wolf Creek Power Plant. James was also a member of the Masons and Scottish Rite.
On November 9, 1963, he married the love of his life Jean (Waring) Titus. They raised their sons in the West Wichita area where he enjoyed spending time with them, even including them at the Model A Club where he started with his Dad and brother. He loved collecting car tags, attending gun shows, being an Assistant Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America his boys were involved in. They enjoyed campouts and he helped start the Trappers Rendezvous held at Harvey County West Park.
After 56 years of marriage, Jean preceded him on January 31, 2020. He was also preceded by his parents, and daughters-in-law Vonda Titus and Wendy Titus.
James is survived by his sons James O. Titus (Barb) of Halstead, Jeffery L. Titus (Deb) of Wichita, Jason D. Titus (Jessica) of Wichita, Robert Dodson (Connie) of Kechi; grandchildren: Christopher Titus, Nicole Bough (Thomas), Austin Titus, Amber Powers (Drew), Chelsey Titus, Corey Titus (Skiler), Casey Titus (Ashlyn), Chase Titus (Kat), Justice Morris, Macy Trujillo (Kody), Danielle Titus, Payton Titus, Jon Wells, Andrew Wells, Tyler Wells and Sean Wells ; 15 great grandchildren; brother Robert Titus and wife Sandi, nephew Rob Titus and niece Debbie McVey; many other family and friends.
A Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, at Resurrection Cemetery, 1640 N. Maize Rd, Wichita, Kansas with Pastor Dave Henion officiating.
