WICHITA, KANSAS

JAMES GILBERT 'TEX' STEPHENS
passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at the age of 88. Boeing Aircraft - 35 years Machinist and Management. Wichita State University Student – Studying Law – History. Pleasant Valley Church of Christ Member 40 years with 20 years as the Treasurer. Tex raised his three children as a single parent from a very early age. His children included daughter Lynda Gayle Blummer, son C. Bruce Stephens (spouse Renee P. Stephens) and son Richard Scott Stephens. He had a strong love for his children and other family members including grandson Chris James Stephens, granddaughters Jessica E Niblack and Cindy Howland. His great grandchildren are Dylan J. and Jordan M. Stephens. Kenzie and Xander Niblack. Jason, Lynn , Cooper and Gabby Stephens; great great grandson Axel James Stephens. He also enjoyed attending church and dinners with his friend Ms. Glee Ebby. Tex was a Texas Cowboy and country musician who enjoyed listening to music and playing several instruments including the guitar, bass guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin. Tex also enjoyed the aerospace industry, building airplanes, and was always proud that the only job he worked was at The Boeing Aircraft Company where is son Bruce now is employed. He also raised several dogs and enjoyed their company. But most of all, he enjoyed studying, learning, and praising the Word of God from his Bible at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Wichita, KS. Tex loved his church, his family, dogs, and working in his half acre garden at his home. Tex was a strong family member and will be missed by all as he goes to see his parents James B and Iris Irene Stephens and brother, Billy H Stephens. Service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 7, at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 3317 N. Amidon, Wichita. Graveside following the service at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center is handling arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
