Obituary

James (Jim) Henry Stancer Jr. met the Lord and was reunited with his beloved wife of 56 years on December 28th 2024, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy (Griffin) Stancer, his parents, James H. Stancer Sr. (Jimmy), and Ada Stancer. He is survived by his two sisters, JoAnn Seyb (John) and Judy Kasper; his three sons, Donald Stancer, Michael Stancer (Anita), and Lee Stancer (Gracee); his four cherished grandchildren, Riley, Ashlynn, Eli, and Bradyn; and his beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was born November 30th, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas.  Jim dedicated 19 years to the military, culminating his distinguished career as a Lieutenant Colonel.  Along with his military service, he served as a police officer where he ultimately would retire from the Wichita Police Department as a detective, having played a role in solving numerous auto-theft cases. His commitment to public safety continued with the Kansas Highway Patrol, where he conducted vehicle inspections, ensuring the well-being of his community.

A man of deep faith, Jim served as a church elder at LifePoint Church in Valley Center, embodying the principles he held dear and offering guidance to his congregation. Known for his willingness to assist anyone in need, he was a skilled electrician and tinkerer.  He would often be found helping a neighbor or friend troubleshoot electrical issues, assisting someone in need, or simply offering sage advice. His simple acts of kindness touched countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

An avid fisherman, Jim found joy and tranquility at Beaver Lake in Arkansas, where he spent many summers camping, boating, and skiing with family and friends.

Jim's passion for farming and collecting tractors was well-known among his family and friends. His grandchildren fondly remember the delight of riding on Grandpa's tractors, each taking turns up and down the driveway.

Services to honor Jim's life will be held at Faith Community Church, located at 1750 N. Gow Street, Wichita, KS 67203, on Saturday, January 11th, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be submitted to Kreative Kids Faith Academy in care of Kimberly Stringer,  7007 West 12th Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67212.

Jim's legacy of service, faith, and love for his family and community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
