Obituary

James (Buster) Thomas Palmer, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Wichita, KS.

He was born on November 30, 1932 in Chilhowee, MO to Feaster Jennings Palmer and Adelia Bernice Palmer.  He graduated from Leeton High School in 1951.  After graduation he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad until he was drafted into the United States Army in February 1953 and returned to the Rock Island Railroad after being discharged in February 1955.  In July 1953 he married Lois Seal from Windsor MO and they had one daughter Brenda Kay in October 1954.  They were divorced in 1967.  Later that year, he married Joan Marie Engel from Peabody, KS and they remained married until her death in February 2007.  He worked for the Rock Island until they went out of business in 1978, at which time he was picked up by the Southern Pacific Railroad.  He retired to Peabody, KS in 1992 after 42 years of service with numerous safety awards. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and yardwork.  In 2003 he and his wife moved to Wichita Ks to be close to his daughter.

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jennings Palmer and Randall Palmer, as well as an infant sister Freda Palmer.

Survived by his daughter Brenda Stolpmann -Young (Wichita, KS) Brothers John Palmer (Anna) Clinton, MO; nieces Myra White (Grady) Warrensburg MO, Christi Justis Clinton MO and nephew Darren Palmer (Pam) Clinton MO

Memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Antioch Christian Church, 3741 W 15th St, Wichita, KS.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be designated in his memory to Antioch Christian.
