James "Jim" L. Johnson, 63, retired Tires Plus Salesman, passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 22, 2014 after battling a lengthy illness, and being on the KU Transplant list. He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Lewis Cecil Johnson and Lois Fern (Biberstein) Johnson. He was a graduate of West High School, Wichita, Kansas. He served in the Air National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He was a member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America and enjoyed driving his red '64 Impala SS in parades and to numerous shows. Jim is survived by his wife Gail (Elgin) Johnson; children, Elizabeth (Jerry) Lower of Griffin, GA, Rebecca McClure of Valley Center, Christopher Johnson of Park City; 6 grandchildren, Tyler McClure, Trenton McClure, Trista McClure, Jordan Lower, Ethan Lower and Kaytlin Johnson; sister Mary Green of Wichita; nephew Randy Green, Aunt Maxine Moore of Shawnee, Ks; numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and L. Fern Johnson. The family would like to ask in lieu of flowers, please consider becoming an organ donor.
