James "Jimbo" Byrd, Army Veteran, 71, passed away Monday, June 25 th , 2018. Formerly of Kansas Commission for Veteran Affairs(Ret.). Born in Houston, TX and attended Bellaire High School in Houston, TX. Jimbo Proudly served in the Vietnam War in the US Army's 11 th Cavalry Regiment. He was a member of the American Legion Post #422. Jimbo enjoyed coaching youth football and baseball from 1974-1991 in Houston, TX, Midland, TX, and Wichita, KS.  Jimbo's hobbies included Western Movies, football, fishing, golf, hunting and shooting. Preceded in death by his parents Bill Byrd and mother Jeri (Butler) Byrd. Brothers Bill Jr and Fred Byrd. Survived by wife Susie (Lewis) Byrd; sons Keith (Dee) Byrd, Shane (Regina) Byrd, Chance (Jo Marie) Byrd. Grandchildren Charlie, Brittany and Brooke. Niece Sarah Byrd; Nephews Scott, Chipper, Jeff and Cary Byrd. Cousins Madelon (Byrd) Croskell, Lynda (Byrd) Sharrett, Bruce Byrd, Ricky Byrd, Marilynn (Butler) Parker, Jerry Butler, numerous other cousins and his Best Friend Cotton Beeler.
