Jack Franklyn Reffner was born on July 30, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas to Charles Fred Reffner and Dorothy (Kehl) Reffner. Jack passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans' Home in Winfield, Kansas. He was a rural Valley Center resident for most all of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Dorothy. Jack is survived by his sister, Vickie Kingsbury (Bill) of Wichita, Ks.; nephew, David Kingsbury (Zandra) of Ohio, and great nephew, Ryan Kingsbury of Ohio; many other family and friends.
His education began in a one room schoolhouse in Harvey County, Kansas called Centennial. Soon his family moved to Valley Center after Grandma Kehl passed away. Jack attended Valley Center schools, graduating from Valley Center High School, as valedictorian in 1959. Jack earned a B.S degree in mathematics at K-State University, 2 degrees at Wichita State University, B.B.A. degree in Economics and B.B.A. Degree in accounting. He was a member of the AKL Fraternity.
On July 1, 1964, he joined and served in the United States Air Force. He was a ICBM Missile Launch Officer at Grand Forks AFB, Grand Forks, ND. He was a captain at the time of his honorable discharge effective August 1, 1968.
Jack began his career employed in 1972 by Beech Aircraft as a scientific programmer, Boeing Military Airplanes as a software engineer and Bombardier Aerospace as a software programmer until retirement in 2001.
He was a member of MENSA International, American Legion, and Sons of the American Revolution.
Jack took pride in being raised on the farm and the heritage of his family roots in this area.
A Graveside service was held with the family on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
A Celebration Life Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 1, at Faith Church, 325 N. Emporia, Valley Center, Kansas, with Pastor Albert Schuessler officiating and with military honors.
