Obituary

Jack Edwin Brunzell of Newton, Kansas passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2025 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas at the age of 87. He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1938.  Soon after high school, Jack pursued a military career in the U.S. Air Force. Master Sergeant Jack E. Brunzell was honorably discharged in 1977 after completing over 20 years of service to our country. His career led him to Wichita, Kansas where he met the love of his life, Deborah (Jones) Brunzell and they united in marriage on October 15, 1966.  Together, they were blessed with 59 years of marriage and 4 children.  Before moving to Newton, Jack was a long time resident of Peabody, Kansas where he worked as a custodian at the local high school.  He was fondly remembered by many as "Jack the Janitor."  Jack was a man of deep faith in Christ and demonstrated to all what it meant to be a good father.

Survivors include wife Debbie of Newton.  Children – Don Brunzell (Cynthia) of Grand Island Nebraska;  John Brunzell (Deana) Indian Springs, Alabama; Danielle Dalton (Jim) of Bel Aire, Kansas; Jamie Brunzell (Sereena) of Newton, Kansas. Grandchildren: Joshua Brunzell (Mariola), Josiah Brunzell (Ember), Brianna Brunzell,  Megan Brunzell (AJ Lancaster), Jaqueline Martenson (Matt), Benjamin Brunzell, Olivia Venzor (German), Bethany Brenner (Josh), Emily Dalton, "Lil" Jack Brunzell, 4 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Kay Jones and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Jack was preceded in death by his mother Erma Brunzell, father John Brunzell, sister Jean Evans (Johnny), brother – in – Law Don Jones and Duane Jones (Judy).

A private family gathering with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will take place on Saturday November 1st at the Kansas Christian Home.
