Osburn, Helen Inez (Wilson)
, 97, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015. She was born in Erie Twp, Sedgwick County, Kansas to Robert William Wilson and Helen Cordelia (Peairs) Wilson. After college she taught the primary grades and music in Kingman County. She then went on to work at Beech Aircraft and Glenn Martin Aircraft in Baltimore as a file supervisor and secretary. She edited and typed a book for author Emily Kettle of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was a typist for the Red Cross, Chicago, Illinois and a FAA radio and teletypist communications for Delta Airlines, Fort Worth, Texas, during the War Era. Inez was a co-owner and secretary treasurer for Suburban Dial, Inc. Telephone Company in Bentley and Colwich. At age 55 she graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor's in Social Work. She also worked as a realtor and served on the Harvey County Economic Development Committee. She was the Activities Director at Halstead Nursing Home and Volunteer Caregiver for Halstead Methodist Church at Halstead Hospital. For 35 years she loved being a church pianist at various churches, plus directed Community Women's Choir in Bentley along with other church and community activities. She will be greatly missed. Inez is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Cathy Osburn of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Leslie (Kirk) King, Shannon (Lisa) Morris, Cameron (Dee) Morris; 5 great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Aimee (Jason) Poczynek, Alan King, Robert (Miriam) Campbell and 5 step great grandchildren; many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Herald Osburn, daughter Donna Maureen Osburn Morris, son Jerome Osburn, daughter-in-law Gwen Osburn, parents Robert and Helen Wilson, sisters Dorothy Wilson Briscoe, brothers Peairs Wilson and Robert Wilson, sister-in-law Margret Wilson. Private Burial at Peotone Cemetery, Viola, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in her memory to Presbyterian Manor, 1200 E. 7th, Newton, Kansas 67114.
