Helen Irene (Stewart) Nickelson, 92, passed away on November 20, 2024, in Wichita, KS. She was the third of five children born to Clyde and Mattie Stewart in Anadarko, OK, on July 1, 1932. Helen spent her childhood years in Chickasha, OK, and Bartlesville, OK, graduating from Bartlesville High School in 1950. She moved to Wichita, KS, where she met and married Chester Nickelson on March 17, 1956. They were married 61 years until Chet's death on August 22, 2017.
In 1957, the family moved to Valley Center, KS. Helen was baptized into Christ at the First Christian Church in Valley Center in 1967. She was active in her church and as a wife and homemaker. Her greatest joy was raising her children. She encouraged participation in church, school activities, and community organizations. Once her children were in school, Helen worked as a church secretary for many years. She later worked at Woolco, Dillard's, and finally as an apartment manager before retiring in 1992.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Albert J. Meeting, Jr., Clayton E. Stewart; sisters, June M. Coombs, Bettie L. (Steve) Markham.
She is survived by her five children, Ronald (Lu Ann), Gaye Dawn, Chester Curtis, Tana Tennyson, Leah (Mark) Hammar; grandsons, Nicholas Tennyson, Alexander (Meghan) Tennyson, Taylor Nickelson, Jorah (Kali) Nickelson; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Theia, Jaxon, Lilah Irene, Anita, Rowan; sisters-in-law, Patricia Stewart, Rowena Nickelson; brother-in-law Willis Nickelson; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in her memory to the Valley Center Christian Church, 1801 E Fifth St, Valley Center, Ks 67147. Private family burial at Valley Center Cemetery.
