HARVEY LYNN HAZEN,
63, of Valley Center, Kansas began his new journey in life on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was born in Newton, Kansas to Edward and Catherine (Spencer) Hazen, the second youngest of 5 children. He was a 1971 graduate of Valley Center High School. Harvey worked in the construction business as a Journeyman Carpenter for 20 years for several construction companies around Wichita. Later on using his extensive knowledge and understanding of the industry he became a floor and roof truss architect and estimator. He was also an avid outdoorsman, passing down his passion for hunting and fishing to his son and grandchildren. Harvey believed in family as well. Strong bonds meant strong family. He is survived by his life partner Audrey McLemore; his son Gabriel Hazen and wife Loyda of Wichita; grandchildren Anthony, Kevin and Gabrielle; brother Galen Hazen of Wichita; sisters Carolyn Hazen of Wichita and Christine Rahnamai of Enfield, Connecticut; aunts Deborah Kelly of Wichita and Mary Jane Spencer of Valley Center; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Karen Hazen, parents Edward and Catherine, brother Leslie Hazen. Private family services with a wake to be held at a later date.
