Harley M. Oursler, 73, of Newton, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Newton Medical Center due to Covid, he fought hard to get back home to his loved ones but covid won.
Harley was born June 11, 1948 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas to Kermit and Edna (Butts) Oursler. He served in the United States Army for several years and was honorably discharged in 1985. He worked for the City of Newton for over twenty years in the water department and had retired February of 2021. He loved to make furniture and has made alot of the furniture in our home. Harley was a true Harley Davidson biker, and loved to make wooden benches with his friend Michael Sechler of Hillsboro each year for Toy Runs.
Harley is survived by his wife Pam of over twenty years being together and marriage; sons Cyrus Oursler (Tony) of Newton, Brett Schmidt (Jennifer) of Topeka, and daughter Anna Cook (partner Ryan Albright) of Newton; 6 grandchildren, Amber Cotton, Leonna McKinney, Darius Cook, Max Annis, Hailee Annis and Ozzy Hassenplug, all of Newton; 2 brothers, Frank (Sharon) Oursler of Peabody and David (Janet) Oursler of Peabody; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his nephew Rodney (Sammie Jo) Oursler for always being there for him as he loved you both a lot.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Honor Cotton who passed away of cancer November 14, 2021. After Honor had passed away, Harley had requested in the event of his death to have the same type of service she had. A Celebration of Life will be held next summer and will be announced at a later date.
