Obituary

VALLEY CENTER, KANSAS

GEORGE LEBLANC, 82, retired OTR Truck Driver and Teamster owner/operator, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. He was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Gabriel LeBlanc and Iola Aurelia (Duran) LeBlanc. He was a graduate of LaJunta High School, LaJunta, Colorado where he was a football quarterback, basketball player, wrestler, track and field athlete. While attending college, he signed up and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves during the Korean War Era. He worked for Smith Ranch and then Santa Fe Railroad. He met the love of his life, Helen Smith, in Salina, Kansas at the Salina Truck Plaza while he was hauling cattle for Spangler Trucking. They were married June 21, 1978 in Liberal, Kansas. George continued his work career with companies Yellow Frieght, ICX and Churchhill. After retirement he worked at the Valley Center High School Athletic Department taking care of the athletes uniforms and towels. His world revolved around his wife, children, grandchildren and so many others. He is survived by his wife Helen LeBlanc; children Adrian (Trevor) Stockdale of Valley Center, Shawn (Christopher) Koch of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Gena (Shawvon) LeBlanc of Casper, Wyoming, Mike (Chris) LeBlanc of McPherson, Kim (Kelly) Hagman of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jett, Scarlett and Violet Stockdale, Annabelle, Addison, Savannah and Seth Koch, Xavier and Xylon Kientz, DeSha and Cody LeBlanc, Stephanie, Haley, Zach and Aimee LeBlanc, Levi and Gabriel Winger; brothers Rudy LeBlanc of Miles City, Montana, Danny (Faye) LeBlanc of Wichita, Kansas, Charlie (Deb) LeBlanc of Phillipsburg, Kansas and sister Eleanor (Jack) Arnold of Tribune, Kansas; many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his son David LeBlanc, parents Gabriel and Iola LeBlanc, and 18 month old brother Arthur LeBlanc. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, at the First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to The Valley Center Lions Club, in care of Paul Schneider, 1503 N. Aksarben, Wichita, Kansas 67235. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center.
