George Felix Capps, 84, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Park City, Kansas.

He was born in Camden County, Missouri to Hobert Lee Capps and Mary Alda (Whitworth) Capps.

Preceded in death by his spouse, Violet Maxine (Gosvener) Capps; son Jeffery Capps; parents, Hobert Lee and Mary Alda Capps; and brother Hobert Leon Capps.

He is survived by his son Hobert (Diana) Capps of Wichita, KS; daughters Mary (Brian) Powell of Park City, KS, Michelle (Dwight) Wood of Park City, KS, Kimberly (Craig) Simon of Park City, KS; sisters Mary Rose Andrews of Park City, KS, Janice Shire of Park City, KS and Ruth Kendall of Park City, KS; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

George took pride in serving his community including as Park City Chief of Police, Park City Reserve Officer, Park City Councilmember for Ward 3, Lion's Club Member, volunteering with Meals on Wheels and with various positions on advisory boards in Sedgwick County.  Other positions George had throughout his long life include Captain with Pinkerton Security, truck-driver, working with horses at Keystone Ranch in Oklahoma.

Monday, July 21st, a 10:30 am visitation and a 11:30 am funeral service will be held at Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Park City, KS, afterwards a graveside service will be held at Kechi Township Cemetery.  Following the services, a repast will be held at Calvary Temple. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Temple for their Homeless Outreach Program.
