He was born in New Jersey City, New Jersey to George Washington Burkhardt and Maude Elizabeth (Clevely) Burkhardt. He was a graduate of Boonton High School. He attended Princeton for one year and served in the U.S. Army from May 2, 1944 to May 5, 1945. George married the love of his life, Gladys, on July 2, 1947 in Boonton, New Jersey. He retired from Quan-Tech Labs where he worked as a draftsman. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Gladys Burkhardt; sons, Charles (Jeannie) Burkhardt and Tom Burkhardt; grandchildren, Scott (Misty) Burkhardt, Seth (Jennifer) Burkhardt, Michael (Debin) Burkhardt; great grandchildren, Kayla, Mia, Cole and Grant; brother, Jim (Helen) Burkhardt. Preceded by parents George and Maude Burkhardt, daughter-in-law Marna Burkhardt and great grandson Henry Burkhardt.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 18, 2-4 pm at Park West Clubhouse, 505 N. Maize, Wichita, Ks. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
