Gene B.
White
July 26, 2019
NEWTON, KANSAS formerly of Valley Center
GENE BELMONT WHITE , 87, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 27, 1931 to Howard 'Jack' and Aletha White, the oldest of 5 children. In June, 1956 he married Beverley Joyce (Wright) White. Fourteen years later their only child, Genea, named after her dad, was born. In 1996, Cody arrived making him Grandpa. Gene & Beverley would take Cody for car rides to watch wheat harvest every season.
Gene loved all things country. From going to horse shows with Genea when she was young to fishing on Table Rock Lake every year with his brother Jack Duane. Fish frys and steak feeds were always a highlight for him. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He was always ready to play a practical joke on anyone and thoroughly enjoyed it when he could make his nurses jump by using his latest and greatest scare tactic. He often said how blessed he was to have made the friends he did at Asbury Park, both residents and staff.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beverley White, his brother, Jack Duane White, and 2 nephews, Kris White and Marc White. He is survived by his daughter Genea (Mark) Voges, grandson, Cody Voges, sisters, Judy (Lloyd) Wilson of Valley Center, Ks and Sue (Gary) Johnson of Craig, Nebraska, brother, Randall (Maxi) White of Florida along with many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Memorials in his memory may be designated to Good Shepherd Hospice, 301 N. Main St. #300, Newton, KS. 67114 or Asbury Park, C/O Greenhouse 1212, 200 SW 14th St, Newton, KS. 67114.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 1, with visitation before, both at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas. Graveside following at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas.
