Obituary

WICHITA, KANSAS
GAVIN BRUCE ANSPAUGH, 43, passed away on Thursday, July 13th, 2017. He was born in Goodland, Kansas. He attended schools in Stanta, Kansas, Hibbing, Minnesota and then Valley Center, Kansas where he graduated in 1992. He continued education at WSU, yet his favorite that he discovered in High School was his passion for Kansas Law Enforcement. He began training and graduated from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Reserve in 1995 and the Academy in 1997. He was with the Park City Police Department for 20 years, achieving rank of Sergeant. He had a side career as a sidekick for Kidd Chris comedy radio show, known as Po Po or Larry Smith – displaying the quirky, unique humor that everyone loved about him. He shadowed his hero 'Grandpa' sharing a love of fishing. He also loved hunting with his Dad and friends around Luray. Other favorites he enjoyed was three-wheeling, snowmobiling, hockey and so much more. He was a connoisseur of fine dining. He enjoyed cooking and was really quite good at it. Gavin is survived by his parents Bruce Anspaugh, Carol and Norm Dooley; sister Jill Anspaugh Ford, half sister Belinda Ratke; fiancé Sylvia Waters; 3 nieces Whitney, Ella and Torie Ford; as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his unborn son Jace and his grandparents. Service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, July 24 at Christ Lutheran Church, 5356 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas. Memorials may be designated in his memory to the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Cadet Learning for Life Explorer Program. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center.
