Millard, Gailen Ray, 77, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Clarence Arthur and Lois Mae (Weaver) Millard. From 1949 to 1953 he was a golden glove boxer. In 1954 he graduated from Hutchinson High School. From 1955 to 1956 he served as an air borne ranger in the 187th Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. Upon his return from Korea he served as a reservist and a volunteer fire fighter in Hutchinson. He spent 27 years at Fleming, where he became the union steward and later was elected as the Vice-President of the local teamsters union. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alexander Shawn and Gina Millard of Naperville, Illinois; grandchildren, Rachel and Samuel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Judith Myrl French Millard, and his daughter, Shannon Millard. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, February 12 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center. Services 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 13, at Valley Center Memorial Cemetery, with Rev.
