Gail Rains, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Newton, Kansas.

She was born in Prudenville, Michigan to Chester M and Ruth Joyce (nee Fletcher) and was a long-time resident of Fort Collins, Colorado before moving to Newton, Kansas in 2014.

She was a supportive and much-loved wife for over 57 years to Robert Rains, a fun and loving mother to daughters Kim (Patrick) Conley and Kaye (David) Gwyther, and son, Steve (Robin) Rains. She was a sister and friend to Sharon (David) Whitehead, an adoring grandmother to Austin (Taylor) Rains, Caitlyn Gwyther, Caleb Rains, Taylor Gwyther, and Kassidy Conley, and a great-grandmother to Lincoln Rains.

She was the owner/operator of Cross Town Delivery in Fort Collins Colorado until her retirement. She had a fabulous sense of humor and loved ice cream, music and singing.

Proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Rains, her parents, Chester and Ruth Smith, and brothers Lynford M Smith and Elwood W 'Turk' Smith.

Memorial Service to be held at Newton Presbyterian Manor Chapel (1200 E 7th St, Newton KS) at 11:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory can be made to Newton Presbyterian Manor or LifePoint Church, Valley Center KS.
