FRED EUGENE CHRIESTENSON, 80 years old, passed away December 9, 2015 after a short battle with cancer at the Robert J. Dole Veterans Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Chanute, Kansas to George A. and Violet (Houghton) Chriestenson. While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Tennessee, he met and married LaVerne Tate. To this union were 4 children. After LaVerne passed, he met and married Sondra (Patterson) Goings in 1989, and gained a step son. Over his lifetime he was employed at A-1 Concrete, Andover Concrete, Hiland Dairy, Ireland Truck Sales, Roberts Leasing, owned Neodesha Ready Mix, and is co-owner of VMC Concrete and U-Turn Rentals of Wichita, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing, driving trucks, spending time with family and his dogs, and drinking coffee with his friends at Leekers. Fred is survived by his wife Sondra; sons Terry (Jane) Chriestenson, Steve (Jenny) Chriestenson, Ron Goings; daughters Barbara Simon, Sandra (Bob) Gaylord. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, Ks 67219. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Thursday, December 17, at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center. Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 18 at Grace Connections Church, 300 N. Ash, Valley Center.
