FORREST DEE WAGGONER , 86, surrounded by his family went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 after his courageous battle with cardiac and alzheimers diseases. He was born in Anthony, Kansas to Orva Vincent Waggoner and Rova Mae (Swafford) Waggoner. He was raised in rural Waldron, Kansas where he attended Spring School and was a 1950 graduate at Bluff City High School. Dee worked for Farmer and Pastor Garnett Clayton who led Dee to the Lord. This led him to Bible Baptist College in Springfield, Missouri where he wanted to go into ministry. On April 14, 1953, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1961. In Hazelton, Kansas, Dee married the love of his life, Venita in June, 1953. They began their married life in Fort Riley, Kansas, where their first son Greg was born in 1954. Dee was transferred to Fort Carson, Colorado where he served until April 1955, then returned to the Wichita, Kansas area where their daughter Patricia was born. Dee and Venita moved to Corwin, Kansas to be close to family. Two more children, David and Jeannie, joined the family circle. 1958 brought heartache at the death of their infant son David. The family moved to rural Valley Center in 1962 where they have remained to this day. He worked at the Coleman Company in Wichita, than retired after 33 yrs of service for KPL and Westar Gas Service Company, then 15 yrs at Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center. After retirement when life is to slow down, they traveled to see their grandchildren excel in so many areas of life. He enjoyed driving teens to youth camp, helping around the church, willing to serve in any capacity. He had a great love for horses, cattle, farming, hunting and rodeo which brought great joy in his life. Family reunions were a great part of his family time. The greatest love of his life was his family. Dee is survived by his wife of 65 and a half years, Venita; his children, Greg (Sandy) Waggoner of Amarillo, TX, Patricia (Mark) Huston of Hutchinson, KS and Jeannie (Mike) Voges of Valley Center; his grandchildren, Boone (Dayna) Waggoner, Amber (Tim) Swartz, Tandolynn Waggoner, Jenna (Brad) Brack, Heather (Doug) Marshall, John (Dresden) Huston, Clay (Brittany) Waggoner, Kelloway (Mike) Norton; great grandchildren, Colt Waggoner, Emma Waggoner, Jeremiah Swartz, Kelli Waggoner, Aurora Swartz, Caedmon Marshall, Conley Brack, Josiah Swartz, Cora Brack, Ariella Swartz, Illeana Marshall, Audrey Huston, Thane Norton, Tyler Moeller and Maggie Moeller; sisters Luetta Bonham of Anthony, KS, June Moore of Wichita, KS, brother David Waggoner of Menard, TX, sister-in-laws Joyce Waggoner of Tribune, Kansas and Shirley Hamm of Hillsboro, Ks, brother-in-laws Bob (Dorothy) Gates of Laverne, Oklahoma and Harold (Iva) Gates of Alva, Oklahoma; many many nephews, nieces, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son David Eugene Waggoner, parents Orva & Rova Mae Waggoner, siblings & spouses Vinita (John) Bellew, Vincent (Jewell) Waggoner, Ruth (Oscar) Hanke, Johnnie (Ethel) Waggoner, Wayne Waggoner, Galen Bonham, Duane Nash, Sue Waggoner, many nieces, and nephews. Visitation 11 a.m. and Service 12 p.m., both held on Saturday, March 9, at Faith Church, 325 N. Emporia, Valley Center, Kansas. Memorials in his memory, in lieu of flowers, may be designated to F. Dee Waggoner Memorial (for Phoenix Hospice or the Cowboy Preacher ministry), in care of Baker Funeral Home, PO Box 242, Valley Center, KS 67147.
