Floris Blocher was born April 13, 1935 in Denver, Colorado. She passed away January 2, 2025 at Newton Medical Center following a long battle with Alzheimer's.

After the death of her mother, seven-year old Floris moved to Pueblo, Colorado with her aunt and uncle. In the fall of 1953, she met the love of her life, Al Blocher. The following spring they ran off to get married. She had a thing for cars even as a young girl. She said the best thing she ever did was decide to go driving around town the evening she met Al. She said her life began that night. They welcomed three children to their union and shared nearly 70 years together. She enjoyed being a mom and grandmother and also found joy in her 22 years with the USD 259 lunch program. She loved seeing the kids every day and watching them grow. She had a talent for flowers and created many silk arrangements that she shared with friends and family. Floris was extremely active in Eastern Star, serving two chapters for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al, and is survived by her three children, Kenneth of Wichita, David (Catherine) of Newton, and Lynette (Scott) Lewis of O'Fallon, MO, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 4 at 10am at the Valley Center First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in her name to Valley Center OES and mailed to 2115 Sherwood Ave, Newton KS 67114 or Good Shepherd Hospice.
