Eugene Lee Nelson, 97, passed away on June 8, 2024, in McPherson, Kansas. He was born in McPherson on March 7, 1927, to parents Ernest and Lillian (Gray) Nelson.

Eugene was a World War II veteran, former teacher and coach, university administrator, and house builder. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 65 years, Miriam (Hueftle) Nelson. Eugene is survived by his children Jody Nelson, Jill (Dan) Becker, Julie Nelson, and Jon Nelson; granddaughter Leah (Steven) Hallstrom; sister Phyllis Blacker; as well as extended family members and beloved friends.
