Obituary

Emmett Lee Taylor, 82, passed away on the 19th, June, 2014 at his home in rural Sedgwick, Kansas. He was born in Halstead Kansas to Francis Henry Taylor and Anna Marie Taylor. Emmett spent the majority of his youth growing up in rural Harvey County working on the family farm in Sedgwick Kansas. Emmett married Gertrude Lenore Fleming in 1952 in Wichita, Kansas. They were happily married for 62 years. Emmett became a baptized witness of Jehovah on December 9th 1951. He enjoyed auctions, old tractors, writing poetry, and even though he would not admit it, enjoyed horses like his daughter Vicky. Emmett enjoyed working as a machinist for most of his life. Mostly the time spent with his brother Kenneth serving the community in his business of Taylor Forge and Anvil in North Newton. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Anna Taylor, brothers Kenneth and Alford (Scotty) and his daughter Vicky Kay Hambek. Emmett is survived by his spouse Gertrude of Sedgwick, Kansas; his sons Robert Taylor and his wife Janice of Alexander Arkansas, Quintin Shawn Taylor and his wife Terri, and Kent Stephen Taylor and his wife Marsey, all of Newton Kansas; his grandchildren Mark Hambek, Sarah Covell, Rebekah Hambek, Tiffney Tilley, Tamika LaTorre, Twandria Campbell, Aubree, Jonah, and Megan Taylor. Emmett looks forward to the hope in which the bible promises a resurrection to life in paradise here on earth helping to restore it to God's intended purpose for mankind John 5: 28,29. www.jw.org. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 223 South East 14th in Newton Kansas at 10 A.M. on Saturday July 5th. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the local Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses 223 South East 14th Newton, Kansas 67114.
