VALLEY CENTER, KANSAS
Emma Jane Craft was the second daughter born to James Wiley and Ada Adaline (Rogers) Craft on October 6, 1930, in Grenola, KS. Her mother passed shortly after her birth. Jane and her sister, Louetta were raised by their grandparents and aunts. In 1950 She graduated from Stella High School in Missouri. Jane married Clyde Taylor on November 4, 1948 in Pineville, Missouri. In 1953 they moved to Wichita where they raised their family and spent their 65 years of marriage. Jane was an excellent cook. She opened her own restaurant, Fireside Cafe in 1969 and fed many north-enders for several years. There was never a visit to the Taylor home that a full meal was not prepared, complete with several courses, biscuits, and dessert. She loved collecting new recipes and testing them on the family. You never went away hungry! Jane was also very artistic. In the 70's she ran her own ceramic shop. She was always trying some new technique and adding her detail touches to each piece. Jane spent her latter years caring for her husband, Clyde and enjoying time quilting together. She and Clyde made quilt after quilt; all done with hand-stitched accents and always quilted by hand. The greatest love of Jane's life was her family. Time spent together at Sunday meals, vacationing in Colorado and Christmas's with gifts coming out of the wood-work will always be the things we remember. Jane went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2015. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Deby) Taylor, Valley Center, KS and Steve (Sheryl) Taylor, Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jayson) Cinotto, Janell (Neal) Owings, Julia (Joel) Atherton, Holly (Corey) Leeper, Austin Taylor, and Kevin Beck; great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Nic & Roman Cinotto; Lindsey, Alexis & Melia Owings; Taylor & Lilyana Atherton; Teagan Leeper, Cooper Seigfried, and one more due in January; a sister Ruth Commer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
