Eldon
Fike
February 27, 2021
John "Eldon" Fike, 91, entered heavenly rest on February 27th, 2021 in Newton, KS.
He was born in Norway, KS and was a lifelong resident of Valley Center, KS. After graduation from Courtland High School, he joined the Army serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
In September of 1955, he married the love of his life, June M. Horn and they had two daughters, Debbie and Delcie. He retired from Boeing Wichita after 36 years, most of which was spent as a lead in the print shop. After retirement, he worked part-time at Baker Funeral home for 9 years.
Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, tinkering in his garage, and being a friendly neighbor. He loved volunteering in different positions at his church and delivered Meals on Wheels with June for 12 years after retiring from Boeing. He and June also enjoyed traveling as much as possible during retirement taking various bus trips and wintering in Arizona.
He had a great love for Jesus and his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren giving gardening and fix-it tips; he also really enjoyed giving the great-grandchildren rides on his Jazzy. One of his many favorite Bible verses was 1 Corinthians 10:31: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
He is preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as great grandson, Barron John Noffsinger.
He is survived by his wife, June, of Newton, KS; daughters Debbie (Armand) Chavanelle of Tucson, AZ and Delcie (Roger) Malcom of Valley Center, KS; grandchildren Andrea (Rusty) Perkins of Wichita, KS; Brandon (Ginny) Noffsinger of Jamesport, MO; and Triston (Tasha) Malcom of Sedgwick, KS; great grandchildren Bentley and Oliver Noffsinger; Trace and Trisha Malcom; sister Darlene Fike of Gresham, OR; and brother Donald Fike of Wichita, KS.
Private graveside service has been held for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center, KS or the American Legion Post 73, Po Box 393, Valley Center, KS, 67147.
