Eldine May (Maixner) Shaw, 102, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020. She was born in rural Benton, Kansas to Wencil Wesley Maixner and Carrie (Vachel) Maixner. She was married to Dale Thomas Shaw. They raised their family on the farm in rural Valley Center.
Eldine's love for her Lord started at a young age. At the age of 13 years she was baptized at Palmyra Baptist Church in a horse tank at Bodecker Farms. In addition to playing the piano and organ, she was an accomplished acordian player. She performed in the June Frisby Academy Ensemble. Her brother Lawrence, sister Velma and Eldine regularly performed for the Soldiers at Wichita Veteran Hospital. She knitted lots of hats, gloves, scarfs and made bandages as Christmas gifts for the military.
She served in several positions in the Valley Center First Baptist Church as choir director, pianist, organist, Sunday school teacher, youth group and lots of Bible Studies. She helped pray and organize the Valley Center Assembly of God Church, where she served in many positions there to help start the church. She was an ordained Minister, active in Women's Aglow Organization and a speaker at the local chapter. Eldine took Bibles to China and Russia with the Assembly of God Organization. She had one Bible from China she wanted to be buried with. She volunteered at the Bel Aire Catholic Care Center. Knitted over 300 hats for missions at her retirement. She enjoyed many fishing trips with her husband, family and friends. She travelled to Hawaii with her husband Dale just before he passed. God blessed her with many travel to foreign countries: Israel, Jordon, Italy, Holland, Alaska and many others. She had a deep love for her family and friends, praying for each of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Shaw, her parents Wencil and Carrie Maixner, sisters Lucy Courtney, Velma Prock, Harriett Todd, Vernie Turner, brothers Lawrence and Vernon Maixner, son Dennis Shaw, and two grandsons.
Eldine is survived by her daughters Carolyn McMillan, Pamela Langhover, Diana McDonald, eight grandchildren, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; many other family and friends.
Service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 24, at LifePoint Church, 400 S. Abilene, Valley Center, Ks, with visitation before. Graveside following at Wichita Park Cemetery, 2500 N Hillside, Wichita, Ks. Memorials may be designated in her memory to LifePoint Church, 400 S. Abilene, Valley Center, Kansas 67147.
