Edna (Money)
Preston
November 23, 2020
Edna (Money) Preston was born on October 18, 1930 in El Reno Oklahoma. She passed into Jesus' loving Presence on November 23, 2020. She was preceded in death by husband of 45 years Frank, daughter Karen, Mother Hattie Money, Dad Joseph Money and each of her 4 siblings.
Edna was anxious to celebrate her 90 th birthday, which she did on October 18, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She loved and was deeply loved by those of us who remain to mourn her loss; son Steve, daughter Natalie, daughter in law Becky, granddaughters Julie Boyer and Carrie Gonzalez, grandsons in law Juan Gonzalez and Daniel Boyer along with her 6 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Logan, Victoria, Emma, Catarina and Elijah.
On 1955 Edna went to work at North American Aviation (later Rockwell and then Boeing) in El Segundo, CA where she was a computer programmer on the "tri-sonic" wind tunnel. She was one of the first-ever female programmers and worked on many of the major air and space craft the US produced in the 1950-1980's. She retired in 1988 and spent her retirement working with her church and doing crafts.
Edna was well-known by family and friends for being a crafter. She made quilts by the piles, then she moved to making dozens of afghans before producing over 100 framed needlepoint/cross stitch pieces. These were acts of her love for crafting driven by her love for her family and friends as each of these many, many pieces were gifted to others. She especially loved giving cross stitch/needlepoint art pieces to our family pastors.
At church, she was involved with the Women's group, volunteered in the church office and was faithful each year to decorate her Buick for "Trunk or Treat." She was a faithful member, attending church every time the door was open, whether for services or church business meetings.
Edna supported missions, and loved hearing missionaries telling stories of Jesus touching lives in foreign lands and in the inner cities of the US. Until dementia made it impossible, she was faithful in her devotions and loved Jesus. She talked of going to Heaven someday, and that wish was made reality as she fell asleep here on Earth and woke in Jesus' arms. We will miss her until we see her again, with Jesus.
Graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas on Monday, November 30. Condolences may be left for the family on the guestbook at www.bakerfhvc.com
