WICHITA, KANSAS and CUDJOE KEY, FLORIDA
DUBYLENE L. (STINSON) HAYDEN,
88. Duby was born to Charles Dubra Stinson and Edna G. (Choate) Stinson on September 24, 1928 in the rural oil fields of Seminole, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of four children: brother Ira, and sisters Georgia and Roberta. Following her father's transfers she attended many different schools including a one-room wooden school. She graduated from Haven High School. After attending business college she began her life-long career in banking, working many positions for five different banks in Hutchinson, Wichita, and McPherson – becoming head teller in two of them. Duby's family attended Zion United Methodist church in Wichita where she met her future husband, R.W. (Jim) Hayden. They were married on September 21, 1950 at the Methodist church in Clayton, New Mexico. Duby and Jim were blessed with four sons; Lynn, Roy, Robert, and Richard. Duby and Jim were both fortunate to retire before age 50 enabling them to pursue their love of travel, visiting all 50 States, all the provinces of Canada, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador. Their overseas travels included every continent of the world except Antarctica. Overseas trips were usually 3-7 months, enabling them to absorb the cultures and languages of many countries. To avoid the harsh winters of Kansas, Duby and Jim spent the last 40 winters at their Caribbean water-front cottage on Cudjoe Key. After Duby became ill, they returned to their Kansas home, family, and medical treatment. Duby died peacefully at the Chisholm Place memory care center on July 26, 2017. Duby was pre-deceased by her parents, brother, both sisters, and daughter-in-law Brenda Hayden. Mourning her loss are husband Jim, sons Lynn (Brenda – deceased) of Sterling KS, Roy (Nadine) of Andover, Robert (Denise) of Lincoln, NE, Dick (Sandy) of Wichita, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many, many friends all around the world.
