Obituary

Duane E. Fisk, 77, passed away December 13, 2022, after battling a long illness.  Duane was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and true friend to so very many.  He will be deeply and dearly missed by his family and friends.  His beautiful smile and laughter will live on in our hearts forever.

Duane was a life-long resident of Wichita, Kansas.  He attended East High School where he met Janet, his wife of 57 years. Following graduation, Duane began working as a machinist at Weaver Manufacturing, where he remained until his retirement, rarely missing a day of work and never being late. He was always eager to share his knowledge and experience with his co-workers at Weaver's and developed numerous long-lasting friendships.

Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always up for good conversation, especially about his grandchildren, cats, hot rods, and guns.  Duane was an experienced marksman and avid gun collector.  He was a loyal and long time member of the Chisholm Trail Antique Gun Club Association through which he also developed a great many long-lasting friendships. He thoroughly enjoyed target shooting and participating in competitions at the club's range.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Opal Fisk, and grandparents, Pleasant and Vera Smith.

Duane is survived by his wife, Janet Fisk; daughters, Laura Rowson (Donnie) and Diana Fisk; grandchildren, Erin Cooper, Donnie Rowson, III, Danielle Rowson; great-grandchildren Deshea Benton, Jr., and Ivan Benton, all of Wichita; and his sister, Brownie Hinkley (Waynard) of Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Duane will also be missed by his dearly adored cats Mittens, Nikki, Dusty and Poe.

There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center, 100 South Cedar.  In lieu of a traditional memorial service, a "celebration of life" will take place in January at a place and time to be determined.
