DOROTHY ELLEN (PETERSON) SANDERSON
of Valley Center, 90 went home to be with Jesus Friday, Oct. 19th, 2018. Her celebration of life will be Friday, Oct. 26th; viewing will be at 1 pm and celebration services will be 2 pm at the Valley Center Christian Church, 1801 E 5th, Valley Center, Kansas. She was born July 6th, 1928 and adopted a few days later by a loving Christian family then was joined by a younger sister, Lois, within a year. Dorothy grew up on a farm north of Eureka, KS. She attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS and later settled in Wichita, KS where she met her husband, Walter Sanderson. In 1961 they moved to Valley Center, KS with their 3 children. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper until she retired. She loved to read and would read 100 books a year. She crocheted and loved doing ceramics and would take her granddaughters with her. Described as spunky by everyone she met, she loved life and wanted to learn how to do new things. When the new age of technology burst on the scene she learned how to use Facebook, her tablet, Kindle, and iPhone. She never let any of it intimidate her and was described by on of her granddaughter as, "My amazing, witty, determined, unstoppable Grandma." She loved seeing her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She attended the Christian Church for over 60 years and was active with her Bible Study group. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert & Catherine Peterson, husband, Walter (Ed) Sanderson. Survivors include sons, Gary (Angeliquc) of El Dorado, KS, Terry (Jan) of Valley Center, KS and daughter Kathleen George (Michael) of Valley Center, KS and 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a large extended family.
