Doris Eleanor (Sanborn) Nicholson, 84, of Maize, KS unexpectedly left us for her eternal home in heaven on June 25, 2023. Doris was her family's North Star and shined brightest when surrounded by her loved ones.  Family get togethers were her favorite activity whether for holidays, Chiefs football or just to play cards/games.  She started every day reading her large print Bible and listening to her 33 RPM albums.  Doris enjoyed reading historical romance novels, watching game shows and cuddling with her rescue cats.

Doris is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bruce; Children: Shelley (Leo) Rodriguez, Christina (Sharon Clark) Nicholson, Janet Kingsley, Bryan (Shannon) Nicholson; Grand Children: Kara (Greg) VandenBoom, Brent (Mackenzie) Barnett, Leo IV (Wiley Norvell) Rodriguez, Kacie (Scott Smith) Barnett, Christopher Rodriguez,  Kelsey (Kyle Kinney) Rodriguez, Ryan (Carina) Kelety, Nichol (Eli O'Brien) Lewandowski, Kirk (Morgan) Lewandowski, Holly Lewandowski, Alicia Calvert, Ryleigh Nicholson, Braxton Nicholson; and Great Grandchildren:  Joshua, Andrew, Nicholas, Teresa VandenBoom, Cyress Smith, Eleanor and Anthony Lane Barnett, Leobardo Kinney, Lucy Lewandowski.  She is also survived by her brothers Melvin (Betty) Sanborn, Jack (Diana) Sanborn and many nieces and nephews.

Doris leaves a legacy of love, faith, family and kindness.  She will live on in those of us who were blessed to call her ours. Visitation 10 am, Service 11am, Saturday, July 1 at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. First, Wichita, Kansas.  Graveside services will be held separately after July 4.
