DORIS ACHSA (TURNER) KNIGHT, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 2, 2016. She was born April 24, 1922 at the family home in rural Wichita, Kansas to Leonidas and Achsa (Ault) Turner. On December 19, 1943, in Kechi, Kansas, she married her faithful friend and partner for life, Howard Knight. Doris loved her family and home expressed thru gardening, cooking, canning, and sewing. She was a dedicated caregiver to family members and enjoyed serving at her church. She is survived by her children Ruth (Wayne) Wettstein of Liberal, Gail (Dick) Goetz of Tyler, Texas and James Knight of Wichita; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Turner of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Marvin Knight, son Rex Warren Knight, parents Leonidas and Achsa Turner; brothers, Glenn, Howard, Clair, Burl, Jake, Gene and Wayne Turner; sisters Anna Landon, Harriett Means and Frances Harpstrite. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 22 at the Celebration Baptist Church, 7202 E. 9th N., Wichita. Baker Funeral Home Valley Center has charge.
