MAIZE,   KANSAS

DONNA  LEE  (WELLER)  NICKS, 93, passed away on October 6, 2017. She was born in Blue Rapids, Kansas on May 8, 1924 to Eldon B. Weller and Ethel (Dutton) Weller. She was a 1942 graduate of Blue Rapids High School. In 1945, Donna married Clyde Alton Nicks in Maize, Kansas. They shared 65 years of marriage. She was a loving mother and farm wife, a faithful member of the Maize United Methodist Church, an avid gardener and book reader, and enjoyed all music, especially the beautiful hymns. She was a people person who had a natural talent for providing comfort and welcome to all people. She is survived by sons Hugh (Linda) Nicks and Robert (Franci) Nicks of Maize; daughter Linda (Rev. Richard) Brooks of Hutchinson; twin sister Nona (Vernon) Stiverson of Maize; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bradford and Richard Weller, sister Helen Cardey, her husband Clyde, son Steven, granddaughters Stephanie Nicks and Aubrey Whyte. Visitation 5-7 PM, Wednesday at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center. Services 10 AM Thursday, October 12, at the Maize United Methodist Church, 208 E. Academy, Maize, Kansas. Graveside following the service at Maize Park Cemetery, 13332 W. 53rd St. N., Maize, Kansas. Memorials may be designated in her memory to the Maize United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society Children's Research, 330 S. Main, Suite 100, Wichita, Ks 67202.
