Obituary

Donald S. Williams, 93, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2022. He was born August 25, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas to Walter and Hazel Williams. He was raised in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1946. He worked for Karlan Furniture for two years and then went to work for  The Rock Island Railroad in 1945. On May 28, 1949, he married the love of his life Maryan Carnes. They have two sons, Donald R. (Pam) and Dana M. (Kim); three daughters, Donna Heard, Terry Coster (Dino) and Sherrie Murphy (Kevin) all of Wichita. They have 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  They moved from Topeka to Wichita in 1959 to continue working for The Rock Island Railroad. In 1980, Don and Maryan moved back to Topeka to work for The Cotton Belt Railroad. In 1988 Don retired and they moved to Marion, Kansas and lived on Marion County Lake for 10 years until they moved back to Wichita to be close to their family. They had been married 68 years when his wife Maryan preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his son Donald.

Services will be held at Baker Funeral Home Valley Center with Visitation 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 and Chapel Service 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2.  Graveside will follow at White Chapel Cemetery, 1806 N. Oliver, Wichita, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3101 Coolidge, Wichita, Ks 67204.
