Donald Victor "Bud" Purkey, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019.  He was born to Donald and Mary Purkey on September 1, 1944.  He graduated from Valley Center High School in 1963.  He was a dairy farmer with his parents and later held employment at Burgess Manufacturing, Wichita, Kansas until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Mary Purkey; wife, Marjorie (Duncan) Purkey; daughter, Donalyn Marie (Purkey) Arbuckle, grandson Brodie Thompson and sister, Clara "Kay" (Purkey) Monge.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Donna (Purkey) Urbin of Valley Center; aunt, Juanita Purkey of Valley Center; daughter, Linda (Jeff) St. Clair of Valley Center; son, Charley Thompson of Halstead; grandchildren, Landon Arbuckle, Tori Loffland, Jessica Stong, and Megan St. Clair; and great-grandchildren, Henry Stong, Theodore Stong and Charlie Loffland; nieces/nephews, Lora (Joey) King; Kelly Urbin, Nicholas Urbin, and Dana (Arif) Mustafa; and many great nieces/nephews, family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the chapel at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, KS  67147. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be designated in memory of Donald Purkey for Landon Arbuckle's Education Fund in care of Halstead State Bank, 101 Industrial, Valley Center, KS  67147.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
