Obituary

Deborah Harley Brunzell of Newton, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Jan. 11th, 2026, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas, at the age of 77. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1948. Debbie spent her childhood being raised in Wichita with her older brothers and parents.  Soon after her 18th birthday, Debbie married her sweetheart, Jack Brunzell, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force in Wichita at the time.  They were married on October 15, 1966. Together, they were blessed with 59 years of marriage and 4 children.

Before moving to Newton, Debbie was a long-time resident of Peabody, Kansas.  It's in Peabody that she and Jack made memories of raising kids, watching their children participate in high school sports, hosting July 4th family gatherings, and playing flashlight tag with grandkids. Debbie worked for a few years as a CNA, but most of her time was spent being a homemaker.

In her later years, Debbie and Jack could be found outside tending to their multiple flower gardens, yard, and taking care of their beloved Peabody home and their dogs.  As members of Newton Bible Church in Newton, KS, they also enjoyed baking cookies for AWANAS and handing out candy to school-aged children at church to "help out their parents."

Debbie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She would be the first person to tell you she was not a perfect person, but she loved the forgiveness she received from her heavenly Father and made it her ambition to follow after truth.   We take great hope and comfort in knowing that she is experiencing the fullness of her adoption as God's beloved daughter and the complete freedom that comes from being in the presence of the Lord!

Survivors include Children – Don Brunzell (Cynthia) of Grand Island, Nebraska; John Brunzell (Deana) of Indian Springs, Alabama; Danielle Dalton (Jim) of Bel Aire, Kansas; Jamie Brunzell (Sereena) of Newton, Kansas.
