Obituary

DeAnna Elaine Gerhardt, 79, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024.

DeAnna was born on July 23, 1945, in Horton, Kansas, as the only child of Ernest and Darlene (Hargrove) Trompeter. She grew up in Holton, Kansas, graduated from Holton High School in 1963, and completed cosmetology school in Topeka following graduation. She married Larry (Gene) Gerhardt of Netawaka on December 17, 1966.   Eventually, DeAnna left cosmetology and began working for the State of Kansas. She completed a Bachelor's degree at Washburn University in Topeka.  She began working for and retired from the Federal government. She chose to retire in Kingman, Kansas, which offered her a sense of community and closer proximity to family.  She joined St. Patrick's Catholic Church following the move to Kingman.  She enjoyed quarter horse shows, snow skiing, golf, travelling, and playing Bridge and other card games.

DeAnna is survived by her only daughter, Melissa, who is married to Rob Sill of Andale, Kansas, along with her two grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie.  While she was divorced from her husband Gene, they remained close friends through the years.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kingman on Saturday, November 9th at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be held at the Netawaka Cemetery, Netawaka, Kansas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Kingman County Humane Society in her memory.
