David A. Guhr,
39, passed away January 2,2017 after a 3-year battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his father, Timothy Guhr. Survived by Sharon Unrein (Mother), Terry Unrein (Step-father), Hannah Gleghorn (Sister), Andrew Guhr (Brother), Eva Kline (Sister), his grandfather, Otto Guhr, 8 nieces and nephews, and a veritable legion of devoted friends. A private family remembrance is planned. His passing leaves a big hole in each of our hearts. To know him was to have loved him. His kindness and generosity were endless. His humor, however, was legendary, and light-heartedness and laughter followed him around. Even as a small child, he was a peacemaker. He had a genuine sense of justice—a gentle giant who majored in mercy. David was known for his hard work and integrity—applying them to football & wrestling in high school, and to several different lines of work as a young man. He obtained a graduate and master's degree from Wichita State in criminal justice. The last eight years he worked for Bank of America as a corporate banker. Every place he worked he applied his creativity to problem solving and improving products and procedures. David had a rare combination of practical sense and vision. He invested the last year of his life with his family, loving each of us with his specialty humor and wisdom, as well as providing interesting hats, and a large arsenal of nerf guns. He said he couldn't wait until Christmas to conscript minions for his nerf army—"because one might just not live long enough and some things were, well, just too important!" The world was a better place with him here. The stories of his humor and kindness will live on in our memories and be retold and enjoyed whenever we're together. He is greatly missed! Baker Funeral Home Valley Center has charge. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com.
