Danny L.
Pitts
May 21, 2025
Danny Lee Pitts, born on August 11, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 72. While we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and incredible achievements.
Dan was a true Bentley, Kansas soul, grounded and hardworking, with a heart as big as the plains. His journey began when he became a licensed plumber at just 16—a testament to his determination and skill. But it wasn't just pipes and wrenches that defined him. In 1969, Dan married the love of his life, Cristy L. Richardson, embarking on a partnership that would bring warmth and joy to their family for decades. Although Cristy left us before him, their love story remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Known for his jovial spirit, Dan had a quiet strength that made those around him feel at ease. He was a private man who valued the simple joys of life and cherished his family deeply. After a fulfilling career, Dan retired from maintenance at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, allowing him more time to enjoy the company of his loved ones and perhaps indulge in his predilection for quiet reflection, a good joke and the occasional good drink.
Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cristy, his parents Melvin C. Pitts Sr. and Delilah M. Furnish, his sister Nancy D. Swart, and his sons Casey Lee and Scotty Lee Pitts. He leaves behind a family who will forever hold his memory dear: his brother Melvin C. Pitts Jr. (Linda), his brother Steve Pitts (Virginia), his sister Pamela Cullum, and his sons Clint (Risa) and Jesse (Stefani) Pitts. Dan also leaves behind grandsons Ryan, Devon and Lane as well as three great granddaughters.
A gathering to celebrate Dan's life will be held at LeVenue reception hall, located at 109 W. Main Street, Valley Center, KS 67147 on Thursday, May29th from 5-7pm. We invite all who knew him to join us in remembering the laughter, love, and legacy Danny leaves behind.
Dan's life was a testament to dedication, love, and quiet resilience. Though he may have left this world, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
