VALLEY CENTER, KANSAS
DALE EDWIN RICE, JR.
, 66, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Dale Edwin Rice, Sr. and Melba Maxine (Wilcox) Rice. He attended Valley Center schools and was a 1970 graduate of Valley Center High School. After graduation he attended and received his Bachelor's Degree at Wichita State University. Dale was an Inspector for Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc. for many years. He then worked as a USD 259 School Bus Driver. Dale married the love of his life, Vicky June (Caviness) Rice on January 5, 1974. From a young age on up, he loved making people smile and laugh. He always had a saying or joke to share. Dale also was fascinated with trains and enjoyed growing up by the railroad tracks, meeting the engineers and catching rides when he could. He was a long time member of SCA – Society for Creative Anachronism, in which he was known as Brother Luvaduck, later Father Luvaduck. He often played Santa for his family and friends.
Dale is survived by his children Aryn Rice of Valley Center and Kelly (Tommy) Staab of Valley Center; sister Martha (Mike) McCartney of Haysville; niece Katherine (Jesse) Jobson and nephew Joseph McCartney (Lindsey Gallagher); many other family and friends. He was preceded by his wife Vicky Rice, parents Dale Sr. and Melba Rice.
Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, at the First United Methodist Church, 560 N. Park, Valley Center Kansas Graveside will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery, 1000 N. Hillside, Wichita, Kansas. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com.
